FAQs

R or Python, which one should I learn as a data scientist?

R is easier than Python for data wrangling, data transformation and data filteration etc. But, python is in boom because of its versatality and shift of programmers to Data science field. Job market for Python is growing at a much larger rate as compared to R. If you have a past experience of programming then go with Python.

What is the difference between Data Analysis, Data Mining, Data Science, Machine Learning, and Big Data?

Data Analytics is a term that is used to refer to the rigorous statistical and exploratory analysis on a large datasets to extract the information they contain. Data Mining/ Data Science is the process of sifting through generally large data sets to discern meaning, uncover new facts and relationships and establish useful patterns. Machine Learning is a collection computational methods that use experience (past information available to the learner) to make accurate predictions. Big Data refers to a field of research that deals with the analysis of extraordinarily large and complex datasets From job point of view, terms like Data Mining, Data Science and Machine Learning are used interchangeably. So don't hasitate to apply any job where any of these three is needed

Can I become a data scientist with no pogramming experience?

Yes you can. But you must have an interest in mathematics or statistics. You can also build your expertise in data visualisation tools like Tableau where very limited coding knowledge is required
